Caen Walk
Our journey back in time to the legendary D-Day Landings will begin in the city of Caen, where you will discover how it became the site of one of the toughest battles in WW2. Your guide will lead you through the iconic Abbey of Saint-Étienne, where local people sought refuge during the landings, and to the poignant Memorial of Caen.
Utah Beach Discovery
Our second discovery will take us back in time, to one of WW2’s most important D-Day sites: Utah Beach. As you explore the sandy shores you will learn how German and American soldiers came face to face, and see the battle scars that still pepper the landscape. After a guided tour of the area you will visit the excellent Utah Beach Landing Museum, constructed around the remains of a German bunker. Here you will discover original warcraft, the Water Buffalo and Duck amphibious vehicles, and one of the last remaining B-26 bombers.
Sainte-Mère-Église & the Airborne Museum Discovery
Next we will head to the commune of Sainte-Mère-Église, where hundreds of allied troupes lost their lives on D-Day. Hear the incredible accounts, as told by the people who witnessed the battle and ensuing fire, and discover the extraordinary story of John Steele. Experience the D-Day atmosphere first hand at the Airborne Museum Discovery, as you explore interactive exhibits and items.
Pointe-du-Hoc Discovery
After Sainte-Mère-Église, we will visit the extraordinary Pointe-Du-Hoc, a monument which juts some 100m high over the ocean. Walk in the footsteps of the American soldiers who risked their lives to scale the 100-foot cliffs to seize German artillery pieces.
Omaha Beach Discovery
Our fifth discovery will take us to the most famous D-Day sites in history: Omaha Beach. Here, we will be transported back in time, as we explore the cragged cliffs and shores where thousands fought. The Utah Beach D-Day Museum, built on the spot where the landings took place, will take you through the night’s events step by step, revealing the courage and hidden stories behind WW2’s most infamous battle.
American Cemetery Discovery
We will finish the tour with a visit to the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial, the resting place of thousands of soldiers who were lost in the D-Day battle. Your guide will lead you through the cemetery, revealing some of the stories behind the names. Here you will be given some free time to pay your respects, and reflect on your journey into one of the legendary days in history.
